My lovely friend @greenerlavelle bought me a bouquet of bright flowers. One by one they did what cut flowers do - bloomed, drooped, faded. One by one I thinned the bouquet, trimmed stems, downsized to new vases and fresh water. In the end, the very last gerbera gifted me these seeds, which I'm about to scatter in the garden with hope in my heart!

Current status = pissing about with white gel pen weirdness over ink blot improv backgrounds.

Took myself on an artists date - a mark-making to sound workshop online with the fantastic @jobeal4. We made abstract marks in response to sound effect mashups and then music, before drawing actual objects whilst listening to music and letting it influence our technique. Incredibly freeing!

I'm running a lyrical #zine project for @theculturalspring open to residents of #sunderland and #southtyneside who enjoy words and creativity. The whole thing is inspired by the famous #maryoliver poem #wildgeese, and will feature 6 zines from me full of creative challenges, followed by a curated anthology zine of work by everyone taking part. There will be #naturepoetry, #blackoutpoetry, #textart using anatomy diagrams, the invention of new #microseasons, guided meditations via conference calls, bark rubbing, found words in the mouths of found objects, and these - little field notebooks exactly the same size as the ones Oliver used to make for herself. Our guest editor Jane Burn said this week’s poem by Natalie Crick scared the heck out of her - this is a poem of fairy-tale horrors, of quiet, claustrophobic menace, of fear that refuses to remain hidden. It is not a graphic depiction of sex ‘You part my lips with them, shut/my mouth with them,’ made me feel like the very trees were closing over my head. It does not hide from the truth.
