Cut Up & Black Out, or collage and erasure/found poetry, runs as a constant thread through my practice.
Quaranzine, 2020
My responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and UK lockdown took the form of found poems cut from magazines and the government’s official advice letter.
Sunderland Culture, 2020
In 2020 I was commissioned to develop 10 accessible beginners’ workshops in collage and blackout poetry, for adults with anxiety.
MIMA writer-in-residence, 2019
Given access to archive documents pertaining to artworks in MIMA’s permanent collection, I approached this residency as an experiment in erasure poetry. It quickly incorporated collage and stop-motion animation, before becoming an online collaboration with multiple poets using ‘Strange Prompts’ generated by my experiments in poetic form.
